The Songs
Rhon Van Erman - The self-titled CD

Trk #1) Goin' Back -
  • Ah, the joys of growing up in a small Midwestern town with a few stop lights and being the first in your 6th grade  class to start a rock band. Branded to make the "big time" (is this a place, and... what if I'm late?) this song is  about the expectations of what others think you'll be.  No regrets or apologies but much wisdom gained.

Trk #2) Goodbye Is Not Enough -
  • Dissolution. A complete separation. Hard words. Harder words to live out. A friend told me once he and his wife  were getting a divorce and I felt this pit in my stomach. This song was written in a little over an hour. My favorite  line is "Forget what is first". A challenging line with the emphasis on what is first?

Trk #3) When She Cries Love -
  • Sometimes lyrics go down on paper with hope the song helps just one person. Written as a fictional person but  this is one serious lady!

Trk #4) Page Of Her Heart -
  • What words do you use to let someone go when it's not working out? This is why songs are good therapy for all  of us.

Trk #5) The Fire -
  • Got the hook for this song in my car. This happens often. Not a convenient place to write a song. Just about  wrecked looking for my hand held recorder. Relationships. The fire must be looked after and kindled.

Trk #6) Keep Her Away -
  • Doesn't necessarily have to be "her". Could be money, self-ambition, chemicals. Pick your poison. This is about  temptation. "If I think I can play with fire and win. I should step back and just think again". Run man... Run!

Trk #7) Tears Like Rain -
  • Went through a couple of rough times trying to find the right person. Weeping. A cleansing for the soul.

Trk #8) Give It Away -
  • Letting go of the past. Baggage is for vacations. Some is better off lost or on a permanent vacation!

Trk #9) Satchmo -
  • My guitar, my keys and a recorder. Love the voice the guitar can give. No words, just sounds. And everyone  has their own place to go when they listen. There will be more songs like this to come. One day a total  instrumental CD.

I hope this gives you a little insight into the songs. If you have a favorite let me know.
